Published by Open Engagement on the 100 Days 100 Questions Blog
8 May 2014
Open Engagement is a free annual conference on socially engaged art, directed and founded by Jen Delos Reyes, and planned in conjunction with the Art and Social Practice program at Portland State University.
At the end of the 2013 Open Engagement conference attendees collectively generated 100 questions they believed important to reflect on in the arena of socially engaged practice. In the 100 days leading up to OE 2014 a blog was launched, featuring 100 contributors from the field reflecting on the 100 collectively generated questions.
I was invited to reflect on the following question:
Is it possible to have a truly reciprocal partnership with a community?
Rather than answer the question directly, I was asked to address why this question should be asked. Does this question matter? Why does this question matter?
My contribution can be read here.
